The Society of St James is commissioned to manage the Bridge open access drugs centres in Southampton, Eastleigh and New Milton.
We also manage the Southampton Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) for drug users that are in the criminal justice system.
SHARP (Southampton Harm Reduction Partnership) is an assertive outreach service and needle exchange harm reduction programme that is run by the Society of St James in partnership with the Hampshire Partnership Trust.
For those who have progressed through our services or have received treatment elsewhere and are now feeling more stable, our Aftercare services offer support with staying drug free and integrating back into a non drug centered lifestyle.
Many of our service users get so much out of the support that they receive from our services, that they go on to volunteer with our Bridge2Volunteering programme, where they are able to use their experiences and help out others who are going through similar experiences to their own.
In addition to these services our Substance Misuse Support Service also offers one-to-one support to people in their own homes, where drug or alcohol addiction is putting them at risk of becoming homeless.

Amy’s Story
Amy was drinking daily when she contacted The Bridge, Hampshire and was desperate to break the hold which alcohol had on her life. She began a detox programme, taking medication to control the withdrawal symptoms associated with giving up alcohol.
Giving up took a lot of determination on Amy’s part. While the medication controlled her withdrawal symptoms, she had to have strong willpower to overcome the temptation to drink.
Now, thanks to the support of Bridge staff and her own motivation, Amy has made positive changes in her life and has been alcohol-free for over a year.
